We are convinced that the future and quality of our wines depend on the ampelographic and genetic diversity of the grape varieties that give rise to them. Therefore, under the aegis and thanks to the expertise of the ODG Châteauneuf-du-Pape, well supported by the viticulture department of the Vaucluse Chamber of Agriculture, we have actively participated in the creation of a conservatory dedicated to them, the fruit of over 10 years of discussions and work. The objective is clear: to preserve and keep available, for future generations, all 18 grape varieties authorized by the appellation, including the rarest and even more…
Some of these grape varieties, sometimes marginalized, could play a key role tomorrow in the balance of our wines, both in terms of aroma and alcohol level control. Preserving this diversity means protecting the living memory of the vineyard.
This multi-grape variety conservatory now constitutes a unique plant heritage, and can serve as a basis for more in-depth studies in the future to continue to refine the understanding and expression of our terroir.
